What is Lasik?
LASIK, (Laser-Assisted-In-Situ Keratomileusis) is a highly effective outpatient procedure, often referred to as refractive surgery. The purpose of Lasik surgery is to correct myopia and hyperopia, as well as astigmatism.
This procedure uses a cool beam of light from the excimer laser to gently reshape the front surface (cornea) of your eye. This is done by creating a corneal flap on the surface of the eye, which is peeled back to allow the excimer laser to begin reshaping.
If you are finding that your eyeglasses and contact lenses are interfering with your active lifestyle, do not become frustrated, Lasik may be a great alternative. The choice to have Lasik correction is usually developed when a patient experiences either problems or inconveniences with glasses and contact lenses.
Dr. Alexander C. Nnabue and the doctors at Visual Eyes are trained to provide professional consultation for our patients seeking to explore laser vision correction. During your Lasik consultation the doctor will be able to determine if you are a candidate for Lasik.
